Ok.

For the first few albums I used 2 tunings:

Bb (7 string) - Bb, Eb, Ab, C#, F, Bb, Eb
+
Drob Db - Bb, Db, Ab, C#, F#, Bb, Eb

For most of the acoustic guitar tracks i play in either and open D style tuning:

D, A, D, F#, A, E (or a variation of this where the F# and the A change Like at the end of 'I Am But A Thought')

'Seventh Galaxy' and 'The Way' are played in:

Drop Ab (7 sring) - Ab, Eb, Ab, C#, F, Bb, Eb

hope this helps

PostSubject: Pick ups   guitar tuning Icon_minitimeTue Sep 25, 2012 11:45 am

Hi Creator,

I was wondering (and still am) what pick ups u use? They are for 7 string and are they available for 6 strings as well? Besides that the sound u have how much depends on the pick ups? I see a lot of equipment in the clips and it seems not very logical that a bunch of pick ups is such a huge difference... i could be wrong of course, mortality you see Wink. I think the rack with a lot of buttons and lights on the background are of a bigger influence i guess... it would be cool if would like to share some thoughts with me.

Cheers,
Peter.

Hey Peter,

Ok

As for the first question i use Dimarzio blaze pickup in both my seven strings. They do have a nice 'gainy' crunch to them.

However if for manipulating the sound as it were my SansAmp pre amp does most of the work. For example through this you can control the shape of the distortion and levels of crunch, punch, buzz and gain etc. You could pretty much plug anything into it and get it sounding good. A pre amp is definately what you want for changing tone.

As for all of the lights in the back ground these include a 31 band EQ (as i run a stereo rig) 2 effects processors, a compressor for stage use and the power amp. Thats about it.

So as for pickups any Ibanez will do lol! ...i've only ever used Dimarzio's and the occasional Seymour Duncan bridge pickup.

hope this helps.

So if i am correct i should buy a Sansamo pre amp...
Well i see if i can find some DM blaze pick ups.

I can continue my journey for now.

Cheers,
Peter.

TBH Peter any pre-amp should be sufficient (or one that you can change the gain, shape, crunch, buzz etc) heres the link to sansamp http://tech21nyc.com/products/sansamp/index.html

however there also others out there http://www.google.co.uk/#q=pre+amp&hl=en&prmd=imvns&source=univ&tbm=shop&tbo=u&sa=X&ei=rq9iUL-0HeHC0QXjmIDoCw&ved=0CFAQrQQ&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&fp=deeff5ffa69aede1&biw=1280&bih=697

good luck in your search .......

ebay will also have loads http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=sansamp&_sacat=0

cheers cheers cheers
