A world without war, hunger, disease, hatred, poverty, corruption, greed, and crime? Perhaps a world where money is quite literally no object; where its existence is rendered obsolete. A world where all nations are united; a place where all people understand and respect each other. Imagine a unified human race that strives for a better tomorrow, a race of beings that does not have delusions of a "perfect world". Imagine if you had no "obligation" to "work"; if your day consisted of learning new things, so you could solve the inquiries about the universe, working together with others to create tools which would fuel this ability. Imagine if inspiration in the field of creativity, whether it be in art, music, engineering, or philosophy were free for you to express with other people, without the need for excuses like "I don't have time in my day".

"If only we could live our lives to the fullest", right?

We can.

I present to you a finding of mine which I stumbled upon on Netflix about a month or so ago. Within the documentary I posted describes "The Venus Project". Its informative website can be found here: http://www.thevenusproject.com/ In short, it is a plan to create a better future for mankind. One much like the one I described in the first paragraph.

Jacque Fresco, a man who has studied in numerous fields of sociology, engineering, art, psychology, economics, politics, biology, and likely numerous other fields which I could not confirm with certainty, a man of 93 years in age, has worked his whole life toward creating the world envisioned by The Venus Project through observing, understanding, and educating the world around him.

Here are links to The Venus Project's major media outlets on Youtube:
https://www.youtube.com/user/thevenusprojectmedia
https://www.youtube.com/user/TVPeducation

These channels are designed to educate the viewer on subject matters concerned with a better future for humans, and the goals of The Venus Project.

Pretty cool stuff. For the moment, I'll just leave this little bit here, since it's probably a handful for anyone new to stumble upon. I'd like to know, if any of you are interested, what you have to say about what I've presented. Even if you just watch one video, or read up on the goals of The Venus Project, or already know what The Venus Project is, I'd like your input. I'd like to know what interests you most.

As for me, I've always lived life, surrounded by people whose behaviors fascinated me. It always seemed amazing to me how people could take concepts like "good" and "evil" and present them as truth; as if they were attainable in physical form or observable. It often depressed and upset me how people could engage in meaningless war, when I always wondered if something better could be obtained if not for our past behavior. I know now that environment shapes our behavior; not some ethereal forces incomprehensible to the mind. For so long I felt that I had been missing something, so when I stumbled across The Venus Project, I was pleased to find that I could understand somebody so clearly and relate to their ideas as well as I could when I listened to Mr. Fresco speaking about his ideas.

I have now fulfilled my duty to my fellow Orbethians. I encourage you to do the same with others. Educate people! Inspire them! Let them know what wonders are out there. After all, isn't our curiosity for the unknown what brought us here?

Engage.

- Eisen.

Really interesting stuff thanks for the input Eisen.

I won't say too much on here as this touches on areas i'd personally not like to discuss over the web.

However I will say that it does seem like a cool concept and would be great if many could benefit from it. However such a 'Utopia' could and would only exist for few IMO. I believe the upper echelons wish and will to control man would overthrow any idea of giving this ideal reality to the pubilc if it were to be created.

"No one is truly free, they are a slave to wealth, fortune, the law, or other people restraining them from acting according to their will."

-Euripides

I will be looking deeper into this for sure!

I feared that somebody's first impression might run along the lines of something like this. An elite, a oligarchy, oppression and control.

While nobody can say for sure what the future will hold and how those with power will manipulate the masses and whatnot, I will tell you that it has been stated that this concept is anything BUT an elite society. In fact, the idea is to create the opposite. One where everyone is given the tools to become a better person. Where greed, desire for power, self-absorption, all of that is extinguished due to the culture in which The Venus Project strives for. The society uses technology to gather RAW DATA which is to be assessed and dealt with accordingly. If a sensor in a farm detects a lack of water, a certain amount of water is allocated to that location, for example. Technology would be the only "government", and no, I don't mean AI. It'd be a program similar to our nervous system.

Fresco himself stated somewhere in a video that nobody knows what a utopia even is. And he doesn't aim for such a place, because it's delusional. One cannot possibly imagine what "perfect" really is. We can only imagine what's better than what we have.

I've seen Equilibrium, and it's an interesting idea for a science-fiction flick. But it doesn't come close to touching the same ideas as The Venus Project if that's the implication.

The Venus Project operates on humanitarian ideas. That is, creating a system based on the needs of humanity at its core and its environment; not creating a system that panders to emotions and opinions and the masturbation of power.

One idea that has to be taken as truth by someone who believes that men will always control other men in a system of servitude is that humans are somehow capable of "free will" and "good" and "evil". All one must do is destroy the illusion of good and evil people, and the idea that men will ALWAYS control other men can then be disproven. And, if one takes the time to watch some of Mr. Fresco's lectures, it can be noted that through his experience (if you can assume that his experiences are valid through deducing that he has no reason to word things the way he does and lie about his ideas) that humans are shaped by CULTURE and EXPERIENCE. Humans do not have the ability to be naturally good or evil. There's no such thing. If one were to raise a human in a totally dark room, suspend them in air, feed them through a feeding tube, etc, give them no outside contact (and assume they got enough exercise through some method), and then after 17 years, bring them out of the dark room. The human wouldn't know what to think of it. They'd be dumbfounded. Literally they'd be... disabled. Humans by nature cannot be good or bad. They can only react to their environment based on their needs.

And thus why I find this stuff so fascinating. I only wish I had professional knowledge and experiments and years of experience under my belt to back it up.

If you're worried about the whole "new world order" crap; I have no idea of the details of it other than it's meant to be based on the idea of an elite few ruling over the population, or something along those lines. You don't have to reply to this bit, but know that it isn't connected to that at all.

Again, I do not know, and cannot know (nor can anyone else know) how future events will unfold. But The Venus Project does not advocate an abuse of power. That isn't to say someone could sell its ideas for personal gain, and use that for power over others. Neither TVP nor its advocates can be held accountable for what someone else does with its ideas in that respect. With that in mind, I reassure to all readers that this movement strives for peace and a better harmony between humans and their environment. It's basically about using science to fix all of the problems our modern, outdated society has created.

Agreed that the Venus project is somewhat detached from a dystopian concept and of course a future that reflected the VP idea would be amazing. I just dont see it happening in the near future IMO, given todays culture and agenda etc.

Also sorry for the Equilibrium skit...... was just something i was watching last night so threw it into the mix to see what you'd say...... pirat As far as I see it there will never be a fix for the need of humanity, purely based on the fact that there will always be corruption and a struggle for control. As is the case on the planet right now. And as for predicting the future its all being planned as we speak by the CFR and other unelected Quazi's with their 10/20/50/100 year plans, again all out there to read.

Interesting about science solving the problems that society has created...... i've seen this before..... although i think these problems are given to us rather than created by us so that when "they" are ready the great 'solution' will be handed down and we'll lap it up like flies to shat. lol!

anyway

Surely to encourage the concept though the VP must promote 'free will'? (something which todays Oligarchs don't) ... and therefore create individualism and ideas ......thusly brewing a natural mix of 'good' and 'evil' (both just words of course).........

cool thread Eisen

Above all, I noticed something I hadn't before while talking to Ben on messenger. I realized that my wording made it sound like TVP doesn't believe in free will as in "we should all be slaves without free will" WHICH ISN'T THE CASE AT ALL!

I just meant that Jacque (and myself) believe that free will is a false idea humans created and that it doesn't actually exist. Servitude to other people is a whoooole other ball game. Sorry 'bout the confusion, y'all.
