Just a small heads up.........
One and a bit tracks written so far ........ I appreciate its early days but after some thought and experimenting i'd say this record is probably going to be like a sort of old school(ish) instrumental metal concept thats easy(ish) listening with cool catchy solo's and drumming thats not too mental.
So far I reckon it sounds like a more linear version of 'Masters of the...........' with more structure and discipline.
Basically i'm going to attack this one with no outside influence and a relaxed approach (by relaxed i don't mean shite and lazy.....more fun, catchy and simple(ish)). Riffage and solo's with a nice Orbethian twist to say the least.........some cool guitar parts coming out so far anyhow!

New snare sound to play with also....... one that hasn't been used yet........and I think i'm definitely going to call it 13th Orb...... if thats cool with you minions of the White Palace?

Masters is my favourite Orbeth album, so this makes me happy in the pants area.
13th Orb sounds mystical and DS9ish.

If they do get into to the mix they will probably follow the Mechatronical style only more subtle.

I'm currently working on track 4 which has a thrashy(ish) theme to it. So suggestion for a track title would be kewl! (always nice to keep the troops involved)
Anyhow the inspiration is flowing nicely and the ideas are queued up in the Bijibrain for recording.........
I may do a short youpube promo vid when i'm about half way through recording.
All going well ........... for once (touch wood)
This is going to be a kick ass beginning to 2013 !!!

A little more news for you........
I've been recording these last few days and it would seem apparent that this album is definitely geared toward guitar sheddery than keyboard madness...... so to say its like 'Masters' may not be totally true......hmmmmmmm ....basically the keyboards are more subtle I think.......
This could be because the writing process is different on this record i.e. i'm writing the guitar parts before anything else, unlike 'Masters' where the keys were written before the guitars. This approach is definitely giving it a really rifftastic feel!
So far i've got four tracks down and they all sound amazing! really different from my previous works......BETTER ....much fookin better IMO...... in both composition and production so a double

is in order!
This is a kick ass mofo ........anyway i'm going to basically get a full instrumental built up and then add vox where appropriate later on to add the final cherry to the Orbethian cake! (see what i did there)

You know those times when your driving along in your car or walking along and your listening to some music. Then you look out the window up at the clouds and a sick, epic, soul searching section of a song hits your ears? Well this album is full of those things!!!
I'm really struggling on deciding a track order as they are all so amazing! Believe troops! this is the best record to ever come out of the Mitsumind!
*Personal favourite - Riding The Ice Fields* (this might be track one).......hmmm
Another thing i've noticed is the tracks are LOOONG! like 8 minutes in some cases ....... this is like a metal soundtrack appearing from the borderlands of Orbethia! *borderlands - good track title*
