| I remember being about 12 and my uncle showing me Sepultura - Under Siege live on betamax !
I have to say, as life changing moments come and go, this was one of them for me!
"under a pale grey sky we shall ariiiiissssseeeeeeeeee"
And thus I was drawn into the metal vortex of doom forever!

For me it was Sad But True, by Metallica, in case you haven't heard of them before . Good question. 1) It depends exactly what you mean / where you draw the line for "metal"... as picking a single song is going to hard for some. For example... is alternative metal included? (wouldn't be allowed on the metal archives). Unless you are more specific e.g. Which was your first traditional thrash/metal listen or, first extreme metal listen, or first alternative metal listen, I couldn't say for certainly. However, I could name some bands/genres that led to heavier listenings: Such as Industrial, drum and bass etc, (genres/bands off film soundtracks like The Matrix e.g. Rob Zombie, Marylin Fagson etc). ...which also led to listening bands like The Prodigy, which have "heavy" songs with harsh guitars. And things progressed from there I'd say, into a brief stint with alternative crap and onward. | |
