Orbeth Human Drumming Empty

This is a bit of an Ask Bijimitsu but, Orbeth subject matter so, feel free to chime in...

With the arrival of a new Orbeth opus, and the experimentation in the realms of sampled drumming in the Orbethian catalogue in recent years, I was wondering whether you Ben and the rest of Orbeth, had any plans to continue with human drumming in future?

Specifically, seeing as Ben is already actively drumming of late, I was wondering whether he would consider ever putting his own drumming to use for an Orbeth album? Even just a song or 2 to start with as a test.

(This is not knocking Cliff / D. Roddys recent work on the latest album which will be commented on soon I'm sure)

If tests turned out good, a good idea might be re-recording some previous albums which I think could be improved on, such as: "A Journey (Re-recorded)...." or "13th Orb". Ben may or may not be in Roddy-style shape presently but, I'm sure he could do a darn sight of an improvement on the drumming on those albums.

So what do you think? Just thought it might be interesting to hear some Orbeth with Ben's own real-kit drumming. It wouldn't need to be a 16-20-piece polished, Morrisound Studios setup kit. As long as it sounded reasonable and timing was on, it should in theory sound pretty good!

Feedback appreciated!

I'm liking this idea Gaia.

Although it's somewhat of a mare recording real drums it could well be something on the cards for future projects and possibly some re-recorded older material.

That said I compose the drum parts away from the kit so they would change considerable with me actually playing. Would be interesting to hear some of the older stuff blasted though!

Good call
