CALLING ALL MUSICIANS!
Orbeth are in the early stages of putting together a live show!
Ben and Ewan are currently working on the live guitars to backing tracks while Clif records the drums to Space Themes in the US. Live shows will still be going ahead but we would like to open the Orbethian doorway to other musicians to add to the magic!
The live shows are projected to be, at this stage, primarily the catchier tracks from the upcoming ‘Space Themes’ album and a hand-picked bunch of tracks from the previous records.
Orbeth are currently seeking the following for a live line up:
Drummer:
We are seeking a drummer able to aid us in portraying the Orbethian percussion. Preferably you’ll be able to provide your own gear. Some of the parts are up to 260 bpm on the kicks so double bass skill is a must. We’d also need you to be able to play comfortably different time signatures such as 5/4 and 9/8.
The Space Themes drumming is at a more relaxed pace than the previous albums but we will be covering tracks that have challenging parts on the drums.
Bass:
Again preferably with own gear and able to play B flat and drop A flat respectively. An ability to play legato scales and runs would also be handy.
Keyboards:
All of the Orbeth keyboard tracks are recorded on KORG and Atmosphere vst’s/modules. These can be provided unless you’d rather use your own gear. The keyboards play an important role in the Orbeth backline so knowledge of arpeggios, soloing and fast runs is a must really. As well as being able to hit a mixed array of chord patterns fluently.
