Well, that was bizarre. You spoke about wondering how this fits into Orbeth: Maybe this sound can represent the Orbethian fountain of spazmodic, electro-magnetic, particle acceleration manipulation processing, that is hidden beneath a great, ancient, mountain terrain base - rarely ever visited, and that few know about?
Sounds pretty damn good to be honest, at least in numerous places. Production sounds better than recent albums which is a pro to me.
Props deserved for just making it, as it takes some guts to put something as spastic out there.
I don't think there is much / any musical ground left for Orbeth to cover. Slow. Fast. Super fast. Native, foreign, it's all there now. Will be interesting to see what this turns out like.
p.s. Have you chipped your front teeth? One of your teeth look different this time. Could just be the angle.

Well Gaia!
I'm sorry but it's Orbethian law that I pilfer your brilliant description of what the sound can represent for the farcebook page!
Agreed on the production. As Space Themes came out so well I'm simply using the same mix template with tweaks and refinements. The mix that you hear in the promo video is less bombastic and glorious than the mastered tracks. It gets better I promise.
Agreed that Orbeth is probably nearing it's musical boundaries. I wanted to make this record before Space Themes actually so it's been milling around for a while. I'm trying to make it "spazmodic" (there are some Goretorture esq bits LOL) but controlled at the same time or at least listenable (difficult for sure). Who knows where Orbeth will go from here. We are definitely gigging next year with Space Themes it's too good not to. We are booked onto Metal To The Masses so that's a good start. After that i'll probably write a jazz piano hotel lobby album or something.
Well spotted btw. Aye the angle of the cam doesn't help and the Go Pro has a fish-eye lens on it which makes everything look bowl shaped. I did chip between my two front teeth when I had a tongue piercing in during the rebellious days Now i'm just quiet and compliant hahahahaha! LMAO!

Can never go wrong with Goretorture-esq.
Metal to the Masses is a great start. If Orbeth pass the qualification I may well attend Bloodstock next year, depending if you'll do any other live shows?
For a venue like Bloodstock, they do seem to get some pretty soft (albeit popular) bands on for headliners sometimes. They need to ditch that crap, get true and bring on the Fetus / Orbeth / Goretorture style. Or at least some big names like Manowar (probably charge a fortune), that will bring in the crowds.
Hopefully if your hotel lobby album takes off you don't get totally absorbed in stardom and riches and Jazz-only music, as extreme metal could still use a serious Bijimitsu-esq shake up.

Oh totally agreed on the Fetus/Orbeth/Gortorture at Bloodstock! in that order haha!
If we bag a few shows and they go down well it'll be metal all the way captain!
